Salt Water Pools
The truth on salt pools, there are pros and cons regarding salt water.
There is a big misconception that if you have a salt pool you do not have chlorine. That could not be further from the truth. Salt pools electronically generate there own chlorine.
The other misconception is that if you have salt you do not need to monitor the chemicals. Again, not true, no matter what system you use to sanitize your pool you still have to monitor chemicals such as p.h., alkalinity and calcium.
In some municipalities there is a by law against backwashing salt pools out to the street.

HOW TO SELECT A POOL CONTRACTOR
When selecting a pool contractor, there are several things to take into consideration. A pool landscape project is a considerable investment and in some cases can take up to 6 weeks to complete. We suggest that you carefully consider the following areas before you select your contractor:
Place of Business – It is important that your contractor have a place of business as opposed to working from their house, storage unit or pick up truck. Pool Craft is located at 561 Edward Ave # 16 in Richmond Hill and is open 12 months of the year.
Ownership Structure –As stated, a pool/landscape project is a large investment and in some cases the biggest expenditure other than your home. WHAT TO HAVE READY FOR A POOL CONSULTATION
A Survey- it is important for you to have your property survey accessible for the initial consultation. This will allow us to see the dimensions of the yard and the exact positioning of the home and property lines. At the very least, we will be able to narrow down the most appropriate size and shape of the pool for your yard.
A Vision - It is also helpful if you have some type of vision for your yard so that we can understand what you’re looking for out of a pool project. Although, a vision is very helpful, it is equally helpful to be open to new ideas and concepts.
ITEMS TO EXTEND YOUR POOL SEASON
The most common type of pool heater is a natural gas heater which gives you very quick heat. Recently, heat pumps and solar heating have proven to be very cost effective methods of extending your pool season. Another item which extends the pool season are spillover spas attached to the pool ( insert photo ). Pool owners with spillover spas are typically the first to open their pool and the last to close for the winter.
